Dental Implants With a Flared Apex

The apex of a dental implant is the end opposite the head of the implant. Implants with a flared apex are a special type of apex that is not very common nowadays. They are inspired by expansion anchors used in construction and civil engineering. The system makes it possible to insert a screw that only widens the apex of the implant to significantly increase the primary stability achieved. This type of mechanism does not allow the pressure on the surrounding bone to be controlled and can lead to a defect in vascularization due to excessive compression of the periapex.

Spotimplant references 10 dental implants with a flared apex from 3 different brands.
