The implant screwdriver is an indispensable instrument when fabricating an implant prosthesis. It enables a torque to be applied to the abutment screw, which is used to attach the prosthetic abutment to the dental implant. The screwdriver must therefore allow the screw to be tightened with the optimum force to avoid unscrewing and fracturing the screw. It is often combined with a torque control device such as a torque wrench or a torque control with a handpiece. Depending on the implant system used, there are different shapes of screwdriver heads, as it must be able to adapt to the shape of the screw head, which is often specific to each implant brand.
